EL: Jeff the whole key here is a solid holder so you don’t lose a finger and part the belly feathers to apply alcohol and gel. If the bird is really sick then don’t stress him too much and get as many clips and post process afterwards. The usual scenarios are abdominal tumors, egg bound, repro tumors, lipidosis and renal failure. many times there is ascites in tumor scenario/carcinomatosis type scenarios so the window is good. Rhe key is to stay low on the abdomen and aim toward the heart to avoid the air sacs.
good luck and let us know how it went.
