My machine just died and I need to replace it. Unfortunately, it died well before it should have and I did not anticipate having to get a new machine so soon. (It was an unusual machine, a Fuji Fazone, but has very nice images). So, my budget is more limited than I would like.

My dream machine is the MyLab Alpha but I have never seen one on the used market and new is not likely in the cards at this time. I can get a refurbished MyLab 30, MyLab 30 Gold, or MyLab 5. I have used a MyLab 40 but it has been awhile so I would like some experience from you on things I should consider. I also have a quote for a P300, which I am not familar with.
I do abdomen and cardiac. My previous machine was extremely limited in the post-processing capabilities for cardiac so I am looking forward to more functionality in that regard. I will also want a good linear probe.
I have tried GE machines before and would rather not get one. I love their cardiac function but I have never been a big fan of the abdominal images. I am mobile so it must be portable.
Advice on machines to consider, companies to look at or stay away from, machines for sale, etc? I have a loaner machine now but I will need to purchase soon.
Alternatively, I was quoted $19,000 for the part, not including labor, to repair mine. Does anyone know of somewhere that can do repair? Thanks!

Hi Suzanne
I have a Mylab Alpha and really like it but I recently demoed a Hitachi Noblus which is portable and I really liked it, so this may be another avenue for you to check out.
Thanks, I will check into
Thanks, I will check into that model.
Other opinions?
Look at the mylab gamma
Look at the mylab gamma (cuattro link above and on home page if you need help on the gamma… yes they are a sponsor but I like the images so…) if you dont like GE and you can’t afford an alpha. I see great images coming over telemed on the gamma and its a stripped of bells an whistles alpha at about 15k less but for normal scanning and all doppler funcitons I really like the software and capabilities. Otherwise have to go used and old school esaote as quoted above… or take another look at the logic e as you can find a BT12 with a few probes in the 25k range is you dig a bit. The sonosite S9 isnt bad but Im not particular to the fuzzed out images that I see but I only have a couple of clients that send S9 image sets so with proper preset adjustment it may be solid and its sold int he 25-30k range too. Just have to try and dig a bit and have the rep mess with the images til your eye is friendly to them.
if you send an email to info@sonopath.com I will send you a rough draft article that will be published soon in a large magazine regarding things to think of when buying an US machine…. it will have some insight for you.

These are some images on the esaote Gamma I just posted this am on the forum form a telemed case that came in last night.

I will add solid images form otehr machiens as they come in to help… again these are top images form this level machine … so showing what a machine can do when used properly.
