– 8 year old obese MN Cocker Spaniel presented with decreased appetite, increased water intake, weight loss and bloated appearance; bloodwork unremarkable other than a mild increase in BUN
– rDVM was concerned about possible hemoabdomen or ascites
– u/s showed only a trace effusion, enlarged mottled liver and a very hyperechoic, nodular mesentery/omental tissue
– pancreas, GI and rest of scan was normal
– PT/PTT was run (normal) and liver ultrasound-guided core biospies were taken (results pending)

Could this be carcinomatosis? lymphomatosis? steatitis?

Looks more like steatitis but carcinomatosis can do this as well… tx steatitis and ride out the cytology.
Liver looks like old cocker vac hepatopathy liver.

Have you seen steatitis as an isolated disease in its own? I have seen it with GI disease and of course pancreatitis but I can’t seem to see an underlying cause here. Hopefully biopsies will offer some insight.
