CT of the thorax – Multifocal thick peribronchial infiltrates highlight the bronchial tree. Several small well delineated interstitial nodules are seen throughout the lung. Both cranial lobes present ventral peripheral peribronchial alveolar consolidations with focal mineralization consistent with broncholithiasis. The mediastinal structures including the sternal and mediastinal lymph nodes are within normal limits. There is no evidence of a hiatal hernia or other caudal mediastinal soft tissue opacity.
Superinfection and/or decreased mucociliary clearance with peribronchial cuffing, and alveolar consolidation is likely.
For the nodular interstitial pattern fibrotic nodules have to be considered. A secondary neoplasia of the lung is considered less likely especially since they seem to be static reportedly.
The computed tomography does not reveal a hiatal hernia or other caudodorsal mediastinal pathology.
