The patient is a feline DSH, MN, 8 year old. Concern for abdominal tumor due to decrease in appetite. Blood work is wnl. Urine specific gravity 1.045.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Descending colonic mass with regional lymphadenopathy. Likely carcinoma, possible lymphoma or granulomatous lesion.

Image Interpretation

Examination of the gastrointestinal tract revealed a stomach and intestine free of stasis, of normal wall thickness, acceptable curvilinear mural detail, and peristaltic activity. A 2.0 cm descending colonic mass was noted in this patient with reactive surrounding fat. Medial iliac lymph node was enlarged and rounded at 1.40×0.91 cm. Epigastric lymph node was prominent at 0.8 x 0.55 cm.

Clinical Differential Diagnosis

anorexia -intestinal pathology (IBD, FIP, foreign body, trichobezor) pancreatic pathology (pancreatitis, neoplasia), hepatic pathology (neoplasia)

Sampling

FNA of medial iliac lymph node revealed inflammation, low grade sepsis, hyperplastic epithelial cell population and population with atypia.
