Aortic insufficiency

-12 year old male neutered Yorkshire terrier

-cough, likely due to tracheal collapse

-loud murmur present

-asymptomatic for cardiac disease

-systemic BP unknown (I have recommended they obtain it)

-LA:Ao of 1.57; %FS 56%

-moderate MR and trivial PI noted, normal size MPA

-moderate AI also noted – why?

-AI appears to be originate between the right and left coronary valve leaflets of the AV

-Does the presence of AI change the management of this patient?

-Does the right ventricle appear thickened to you?  If so, why?

Just trying to put the clinical puzzle pieces together to make sense to me.  Thanks!

(I realize the videos come out dark, have never been able to fix it but they’re much lighter on my machine)

I see a lot of AI in MVD

I see a lot of AI in MVD cases …. I think its just part of the Valve disease process unless signs of endocarditis.

Perfect, thanks!  I didn’t

Perfect, thanks!  I didn’t realize it’s that common.  I’ve seen it several times and always wondered.
