- 3 year old F Chinchilla with 3 month history of dribbling urine.
- Nonresponsive to antibiotics prescribed at previous clinic.
- Abdominal ultrasound shows normal kidneys and normal nongravid uterus.
- There are no bladder stones, however, there is a focal mass originating from the dorsal wall at the level of the trigone. It measures 7mm (l) x 2.5mm (d).
- I believe that I am seeing ureteral jets originating from this structure on the video clips.
- US guided cystocentesis was performed and U/A results are pending.

- I suspect that his mass is normal anatomy, ureteral papilla.
- Other rule outs include benign polyp and neoplasia.
- What are your thoughts? Does anyone know of any normal bladder ultrasound reference images for Chinchillas?

yeh its in the right spot for u pap and if hes a stone mover the u paps get thick in all species. I dont think this is a mass though. But also it looks like dependent debris sitting on the mucosa as opposed to deriving from the wall which is what u paps do. Would have to hi res zoom on it to see the mural architecture better. Maybe recheck in a week to see if it goes away and if its persistent then zoom in and follow the mural layers.
I tried transducer agitation
I tried transducer agitation to try to see if any of it would suspend, but it appeared the same. Are you saying that the ureteral papilla gets thickend with the passage of ureteral stones or do you mean bladder stones, too? The kidneys looked normal.
The u paps get thick with
The u paps get thick with repeated ureteral stone passage into the bladder. May not be the case here it was just a comment. You see it in cats and dogs a lot that have stone issues.

Ok, thanks. Urine culture was negative. Miscommunication led to failure of a U/A being performed. Hope to rescan again in a few weeks to reassess and get more urine. Its not really clear if this animal has incontinence or pollakiuria.
