ureter and linear probe questions

Hello,

I have a few general questions focusing on the urinary bladder region.

I have had several recheck urinary bladder ultrasounds lately where I have not seen any pathology.  I was checking to see/try to verify if there was a mass/growth.

My questions are:

In general, how frequent can a significant UTI look like a bladder wall mass…yet within a week of antibiotics look perfectly normal?

Should we be using the linear probe some when we think there is urinary bladder pathology?

With these recent cases I used the linear probe as well, and scanned about every angel of the urinary tract that was possible.  I included power doppler over the ureteral jets as well.  I will see if I can post what I think is a pretty neat clip.

Regarding including ureteral jets with urinary bladder scans…I could only come up with a few reasons to include trying to visualize these with power doppler:

Looking for ectopic ureters, ureteroceles, seeing if a mass is involving/obstructing a ureter, and maybe to see there is debris in the urine.

Thanks

Beautiful jet!! And yes, we

Beautiful jet!! And yes, we always utilize our linear probes to get a close up view of the entire bladder/CUJ/urethra when we suspect anything bladder related. In regards to antibiotic therapies and possible bladder wall masses with apparent resolution, I’ll leave that up to the veterinarians. Although, sometimes when something looks like a mass in the bladder it can often times be a build up of blood clots.

The resolution variable as

The resolution variable as some chronic changes will never change. I would go more by urine sediment culture and signs.
