Transverse abdominis plane block

A colleague of mine went to a conference and came back asking whether I had heard of using a transverse abdominis plane block for pain control with pancreatitis. Do any of you have experience with this? I’ve found references on human and veterinary side, but have yet to find someone who is using it regularly…

Thanks!

Here (the anesthetists of the hospital) apply this technique (TAP BLOCK), for acute pancreatitis, with 0.2 to 0.3 ml / kg  per infiltration point (usually four points) at 0.25% or 0.12%. Great results, avoids pain up to 24 hours, but the animal needs to be sedated, is applied between the transverse abdomen muscle and the internal obliquity.
