Retroperitoneal pathology

  • Another case with similar retroperitoneal pathology – 12 year old FN collie
  • Had an external rectal mass – image attached
  • And a very large similar mass of similar appearance in caudal abdomen, suspect SL LN mets
  • The left side of the retroperitoneal space was also very abnormal and I think the left adrenal was severely enlarged
  • I assume there is neoplastic extension from the external mass and caudal abdominal mass, any other ideas here?

Unfortunately, there is a lot

Unfortunately, there is a lot of nastiness going on here. Anal sac adenocarcinoma with mets to the SL, MILN, and other LNs in the aortic trifurcation area / caudal abdomen seems reasonable. We see these cystic changes with LN mets from anal sac adenocarcinoma so it may all be cystic LN changes with some mild associated effusion.
