Raw DICOM vs DICOM

Hi, I have a GE Logiq e and I am unsure what the settings on the buttons should be.  Right now the P1 is configured for raw DICOM and the P3 (cine loop) is configured for DICOM.  What are the best settings if I want to send DICOM images?  Thanks for any advice.  jas

  1. This is achronic anc

This is achronic anc confusing GE configuration and causes more confusion than anything but glad you are set up now. Most machines have this issue internally but the user pushes a button and dicom comes out and not raw dicom.

Raw dicom is the dicom format where you can post process and do manupulation and mmode measurements and such after you have scanned. Dicom (p3 in this case) you cant but you can still annotate or do basic measurment like an adrenal measurement. Problem is any videos taken in raw dicom (p1 in this case) come over as monster still imnages (unreadable video) when you export and read in a dicom reader as in when you move to your server or telemd out a case. Therefore for video you need ot push p3 in this case which is configured to dicom which is readable as video remotely.

If you dont post process anything then just p3 the stills and the video. If you do post processing in your work flow like m mode cardiac measurements and such then p1 the still images of your modes and p3 any video. The file size difference would be minimal that way.

This is a short blip to summarize eons of time sucking hair pulling moments in my career dealing wiht this issue as I drove GEs for 14 years and still of course read from them in telemed… the p1 p3 dicom abyss has historic layers in the telemed world:)

    Hope this helps

    • Thanks!  I’m not computer

Thanks!  I’m not computer savvy but I think I have the settings for saving images configured properly.  Now I need to get better images.  I’m still having a hard time with right kidney and adrenal!  jas
