I just had to share this with the community. I almost never get to do an ultrasound on intact females.
We had a case that had an OHE about 6 months ago and came back into season. I suggested to my associate we look to see if there was an ovarian remnant under ultrsound to help and direct where to look for the ovary on the follow up surgery.

I used my linear probe. I did not see it on the L side caudal to the L kidney but it popped right out on the right side. I did not take a picture to share but it looks similar to the one I posted from the search engine on Sonopath but more cystic. Great image with the linear probe.
Amazing what makes an ultrasonographer happy 🙂

Nice randy thats a typic O rem… yeh we are nerdily pleased aren’t we:) I usually run out of the clinic with a lightning fast packup job of my equipment when I see and dx this so I dont get caught up in the political questions 🙂

This dog was spayed at our clinic. First time that I remember we had this issue.
Great owner and great dog. We always tell the truth. Get into more trouble when you try to hide the truth.
My surgeon removed the ovary and all is well. Obviously no cost to owner in this case. What was interesting was that we saw the sutures on the ovarian pedacle and the ovary we saw was very close. I guess we can’t totaly RO ectopic ovarian tissue.

Good case Dr Herman! it’s always easier to live with yourself when you tell the truth. Admit it, fix the problem and move on.
