MyLab 30 Gold Vet

I have an Esaote MyLab30 Gold Vet

I was wondering if anyone could suggest a higher frequency phased array probe. I currently have the PA240 Vet. Low frequency probe that gives me good Doppler but poor resolution. I am trying to decide if I should add a PA122E Vet or PA023Vet. I think the PA023Vet would be good for small dogs or cats – but I am worried about the higher frequency and it versatility with CFI or Spectral Doppler.

I would also appreciate any presets you could give me for the probes. I am very aware that the probe is only as good as the setting.

Hi Randy,
I have tried both

Hi Randy,

I have tried both the 122 and the 023 and I prefer by miles the PA023, we use it in cats and small dogs but still works well in my opinion for medium size dogs.

Let me see the presets I have and will take some notes of them and send you some of the presets for it.  Do you have an email address to email you them?

Hope this helps

Thank you so much Veronica. I

Thank you so much Veronica. I will take your advise and get the 023. Do you get OK CFI and doppler for the smaller animals?

I would really appreciate the presets for this probe if you have them.

You can e mail me at randyhermandvm@comcast.net

I have one on order… from

I have one on order… from what I have used I love it but still have to work on getting solid image sets in big dog abdomens and get used to th ewdifferent look. I drive a logic E and will be driving an alpha soon.

Marty Hensderson has extesnive experience with both. I’ll see if he can chime in here.

The Alpha is an amazing

The Alpha is an amazing machine.  I’ve had 2 since they were available in the US in mid 2013 and now have 1 more.  The 5.12 Crystline version of the software is a significant upgrade in image quality and penetration on big dogs.  There is a “Vet” version of the software soon to come out and that apparently takes the imaging further as well as making it veterinary friendly.

The color and 2D are really excellent.  Like all machines, presets are everything and that took me a little while to really dial them in since I was coming off a Logiq E and wasn’t as familiar with the MyLab terminology for settings.  But now that I’ve got it figured out I absolutely love it and wouldn’t trade it for anything.

The pediatric phased array (PA) probe generally images small hearts extremely well since the upgrade to 5.12 software.  Before that upgrade, it was a struggle at times.  The large phased array has great color and spectral (typical of large PA probes) and surprisingly good 2D in small hearts (excellent in large hearts).  So in some cases to resolve the true V-max or best define the color in small dogs/cats I have to use both probes on a study.  But generally the small PA probe is just fine.

The linear produces exceptional images, especially in cat abdomens.

The touch screen makes navigating and annotating easy with very little typing.  If you’re in a fixed location, the machine has blutooth and WIFI so it’s easy to connect a wireless keyboard.  There are so many little things they’ve developed into this machine that make it so much more feature rich than any machine I’ve ever used before.

There is now the ability to easily capture any length of time forward and backwards since the 5.12 software upgrade!  This is a significant boost since the previous version made capturing forward easy and backward required about 5 steps.  The cineloop capturing options are extremely powerful on this machine and again far better than anything I’ve ever used before.

If you have any specific question, feel free to ask. I absolutely love the machine and have almost nothing negative to say about it.
