Massive left atrium

Hello,

I saw this case today and had some questions please.

– Adult DSH presented day prior with tachypnoea and gallop rhythm

– I could see a huge left atrium with smoke

– I don’t think there is a pericardial effusion but there is fluid surrounding left ventricular free wall, is this the enlarged left atrium, could it have ruptured?

– Can you make out underlying heart disease?

Feline cardiac disease always amazes me, thanks in advance.

Wow that’s ugly… lasix plavix pimobendan and don’t look at him the wrong way to excite him:( The LV lkooks subjectively hypertrophied like HCM btu I wouldnt go any further than that given all the distortion. Maybe Peter has some input.

Thanks, that would be great. I had to do the scan with her standing because she didn’t want to lie on her side…understandable!
