linear FB

Sonopath Forum

Hello,

Jack is a 11 months old Male lab that likes to chew his stuff toy and rope toys.

His bloodwork was wnl, X-rays showed fluid filled intestines but no definitive obstruction pattern

AUS was normal except this linear FB in the mid duodenum. Can this be an artefact? It looks to me that is a definitive linear FB but don’t see it anchored in the Pylorus. PDJ was normal. Can this be non obstructive?

Thank you

This looks pretty real… not

This looks pretty real… not sure if the duodenum is corrugated or spasmic. Check a fecalk as this could be a roundworm. Linear fb usually have corrugated bowel and regional inflammation wiht them if they are a problem. Look for + Murphy sign on scanning them as well.

we had a negstive

we had a negstive exploratory.no plication.  I think that this was either moving along or still wondering if this was some weird artefact( because is paralel to probe head???)

I agree with Eric this most

I agree with Eric this most likely was a roundworm. There is not enough plication if any associated with it and it is also of the right diameter. They often have a lot of fluid surrounding them as well so that fits accordingly. Eric’s recommendation to run a fecal would be well advised.

Thank you Dr. Hylands. We did recommend an O&P. I will follow up. If somebody have some US images of roundworms and can share would be greatly appreciated.
