So… I would be aiming to see the type of tissue, and its limits. So basically, try and see if there is muscle involvement or just subcutaneous or also if you see vascular pattern so I would always use Doppler. If it is very round and superficial you will need a lot of gel to get a clear view. I always scan in all planes trying to get the borders and the connexion with deeper tissues. I would also scan regional LNs and abdominal medial iliac. Just to be sure. I think FNAs are sometimes more informative than scans but in this case you can do both.

Ah, if you have a higher frequency probe you may want to use it. I can imagine that when you see the lump you’ll have a better idea of what to do.
