Gallbladder mucocoele?

  • 8 year old female entire Bernese Mountain Dog with severe bilateral uveitis, also coming into season
  • Mild-moderately elevated liver enzymes and cholesterol, neutrophilic leucocytosis
  • Scanned to check for systemic cause of uveitis
  • The liver parenchyma was heterogenous and the gallbladder seemed distended (was not fasted) with echogenic material throughout lumen, is this a mucocoele? Do you think there is also a hepatitis? The uterus was normal. 
  • Do you think this is an incidental (although significant) finding?

The gbis certainly

The gbis certainly overdistended and fibrosed wall. “Emerging mucocele” I would say as there is no overt striation. No matter what you call it it may not be functional. Consider a Gb motility study to see if needs to be removed. may have low grade signs… hyporhexia and such.
