Hi,
This patient is a 5 year old MN Maltese. Presented for dysuria/dribbling urine.
Easily catheterized. No uroliths. Normal tiny prostate. No masses.
Ultrasound basically normal. I have scanned the penial urethra and the perianal region in the past looking for urethral obstructions. Have found stones, but haven’t seen this structure before, at least not so prominently. Thought it was a mass at first, but it is symmetrically bilobed. The left was slightly more hyperechoic than the right.

Is this the Bulb of the Penis? A gland? Miller’s 20 year old anatomy book isn’t being much help.

Yes this appears uniform and
Yes this appears uniform and curvilinear so should be normal there but not sure what gland it is depending on where you are. Catheter passes ok? Sometimes they are passing stones periodcally and you dont see them on the sonogram but if any kidney stones are present at all I would be suspicious of this. You could always aspirate it with a 25 g needle to be sure.
