- 6 year FE Doberman, history pu/pd, weight loss, recent vomiting
- Severe elevations in liver enzymes and jaundiced
- Left side of liver is small and nodular, right side seems more enlarged and nodular, my suspicion is chronic hepatitis/cirrhosis
- What is your interpretation of the liver?
- The spleen is mildly mottled
- I think there are acquired shunting vessels caudal to kidney and low volume ascites
- The owner is a challenge but is considering biopsy

Agree with the nodular and
Agree with the nodular and hyperechoic appearance of the liver. With the breed of dog chronic-active hepatitis is highly likley with early cirrhosis, neoplasia, previous hepatitis (viral, bacterial, toxins), chronic hepatitis differential diagnoses. The spleen may just be an incidental finding but neoplasia should be considered. Would FNA spleen and liver but most likley would need a biopsy.

Yes core bx this looks like the expansive nodular phase of cirrhosis. You can be nerdy and do a portal vein velocity and see if < 18 cm/sec of forward flow which suggests portal hypertension:)
