Image Interpretation

Rads of the abdomen: The stomach contains a moderate amount of chyme and gas as well as a small amount of mineral opaque material within the pyloric antrum. There is no evidence of foreign material or upper GI obstruction. The small intestine contains fluid and gas, the loops are non-dilated and of uniform diameter. The large intestine contains a large amount of foamy material. The diameter of the colon has mildly increased. A small portion of fecal material is deposited between the first and second radiographs. There is no evidence of obstruction.

DX

Resolved constipation, improved hydration status

Outcome

No evidence of obstructive gastrointestinal disease, no evidence of megacolon, no
evidence of peritonitis/perforation.An underlying cause of the clinical signs is not identified on the radiographs. Proceed with supportive care, dietetic management and symptomatic therapy. Post traumatic colitis is a potential according to the history. Consider further definition by abdominal
ultrasound and bloodwork in case the patient is refractory to therapy
