This 13 year old Chihuahua mix has presented with one episode of vomiting, blood on rectal area. Cystotomy 1.5 years ago.

Image Interpretation

Rads of the abdomen – The patient is obese. The abdominal wall is mildly pendulous. The stomach contains a mild to moderate amount of foamy chyme. The duodenum contains a mild amount of gas and is not dilated. Except for one loop with gas content and slightly increased diameter the small intestinal loops are of even diameter and not dilated. The large intestine contains gas and an mild amount of fecal material. The caudal thoracic esophagus contains a small amount of fluid which is consistent with gastroesophageal reflux or swallowing

Outcome

No evidence of obstructive gastrointestinal disease.
Consider abdominal ultrasound for further definition should the clinical signs persist despite supportive care and symtomatic treatment..
