A 2-year-old female Hedgehog was presented for evaluation of hematuria that had not responded to Baytril therapy. There had been no change in behavior, appetite, and activity.
A 2-year-old female Hedgehog was presented for evaluation of hematuria that had not responded to Baytril therapy. There had been no change in behavior, appetite, and activity.
1. Bladder – no sonographically significant lesions.
2. Uterus – the findings are severe – DDx: chronic metritis vs. pyometra vs. uterine neoplasia.
The urinary bladder was normal size with normal wall thickness and no evidence of inflammation or urolithiasis. The uterus was abnormally, severely large and round with tissue density of heterogenous echotexture throughout. There was evidence of vascularity in center of the abnormal tissue.
Ovariohysterectomy was performed and pyometra was found. No neoplasia.
