Image Interpretation

Ultrasound of the shoulders –

Bilateral:

Minor tendon sheath effusion and thickening of the tendon sheath wall is noted. A small amount of anechoic fluid accumulates within the dependent mediodistal pouch of the tendon sheath. The bone surface of the intertubercular groove presents a small bony exostosis at its medial margin with even surface. The periarticular margins of the shoulder joint present mild osteophyte formations.

DX

Mild chronic bilateral tenosynovitis of the biceps tendon sheath (grade 1)

Outcome

The tendon itself is ultrasonographically
unaffected respectively. At this point the significance of the findings is at least
questionable. It is very unlikely that the changes contribute to the current clinical
presentation.
Emerging osteoarthritis of both shoulder joints is noted and considered incidental at
this point as well.
