Mucocele in a 11 year old FS German Shepherd dog
Sonographic Differential Diagnosis
Gallbladder mucocele without inflammation.
Image Interpretation
The liver was structurally unremarkable with relatively uniform parenchyma. However, the gallbladder was significantly distended with a tubular type form with suspended and immobile debris.

The owner is pursuing a holistic approach for this patient.
Comments
Cholecystectomy would likely be best in this patient with appropriate biopsy and common bile duct lavage. Ursodiol therapy could be attempted with recheck sonogram in approximately 6-8 weeks to assess any changes or gallbladder motility study could be considered. No structural evidence of significant disease would be responsible for hematuria. Vaginoscopy would be ideal.
