A NM, 9 year old, canine Corgi Cross was presented with a history of tenesmus and had been empirically treated with Clavamox. Blood work was within normal limits.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Suggestive of prostatic carcinoma with urethral invasion. Age related renal changes. Recommend initiation of Deramaxx and enrofloxacin or similar antibiotic. A recheck sonogram was recommended in a month.

Image Interpretation

The urinary bladder itself appeared largely normal. The pathology appeared localized to the prostate. The prostate in this patient presented mineralizing irregularities with an anechoic cyst that was drained with ultrasound guidance. Fine-needle aspirates were performed of the parenchymal portion. This is highly suggestive for prostatic carcinoma and measured 2.6 cm in width and appears to be infiltrating the urethra.

DX

Suggestive of prostatic carcinoma with urethral invasion.
