A 10-year-old SF Toy Poodle with a history of diabetes and hypothyroidism was presented for evaluation of a hemorrhagic discharge after urinating. Urinalysis showed SG of 1.029, glycosuria, leukocytouria, and hematuria. Urine culture yielded E coli.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Urethral mass. Focal mineralization also noted within the urethral mass strongly suggestive for transitional cell carcinoma.

Image Interpretation

Urethra in this patient was comprised of a 1 x 3 cm mass present from the cystourethral junction to the deep urethra at least 3 cm deep with pericapsular inflammatory pattern. Bladder itself presented minor cystitis pattern.
