An 8-year-old NM mixed breed dog was presented for evaluation of persistent hematuria, weak urine stream, and stranguria. Abnormalities on urinalysis were 3+ blood and 1+ protein. Survey radiographs were unremarkable.

Urethral mass, mineralizing. This is likely transitional cell carcinoma or prostatic carcinoma. The mass measured 1.0 cm in width.
Recommend oncology consultation. Ideally repeat traumatic catheterization to obtain tissue samples with referral for urethral stent placement for palliative therapy and ancillary chemotherapy would be recommended.
The urinary bladder itself was unremarkable. However, a mineralizing urethral tumor was noted in this patient. The tumor involved portions of the prostate with deviation of the descending colon. Multi focal regions of mineralization were noted.
