03_00509 Jojo R GB Mucocele

A 10-year-old NM Chihuahua with a history of seizures for the past 6 months was presented for evaluation of polydipsia. Distended abdomen was present on physical examination. Urine specific gravity was 1.006 and CBC within reference range. Abnormalities on serum biochemistry were elevated ALT (375) and ALP (400) activity.

 

DX

Mucocele

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Gallbladder mucocele with minor adhesion pattern.
Cholecystectomy is recommended.

Image Interpretation

The liver revealed heterogenous parenchymal changes with focal regional areas of mineralization. The gallbladder presented moderate over distension with striating bile. This is consistent with mucocele formation.
