Abdominal mass in young cat

This cat came to me for a second opinion on an abdominal mass of a month (at least) duration.  The mass is tubular, mid abdomen.  The previous vet did a course of prednisone and the patient did initially improve, but then the symptoms recurred.

Patient is still eating but vomiting frequently and having diarrhea.  No fever, BAR.  Emaciated.  O could not afford rads or even US, but I did take a brief look to see if I saw lymphoma.

Patient is still eating but vomiting frequently and having diarrhea.  No fever, BAR.  Emaciated.  O could not afford rads or even US, but I did take a brief look to see if I saw lymphoma.

His stomach was full of ingesta, and there was peritoneal effusion, not a wet FIP amount, but visible.  The kidneys were somewhat enlarged and hyperechoic with mild perinephric effusion.  The mass itself is being isolated in the first video.

I can’t tell if this could be a foreign body?  Or if FIP is a possibility?  Patient has not been combo tested, no blood testing at all, so it is difficult to give owners options.

Thanks for any help.  I would like to give the o a little more information if possible.  Judy

Unlikley to be FIP as ascites

Unlikley to be FIP as ascites most likley associated with the mass, which looks like an intestinal mass. Lymphoma would be a consideration.

OK, thanks for the reply.  If it were a foreign body there would be shadowing and no color showing up, is that correct?

The echotexture and

The echotexture and stricturing pattern suggests carcinoma and the free fluid comes from lymphatic congestion as the mass spreads to the lymphatics in the mesenteric root. Pancreatic carcinoma same scenario and carcinomatosis would be the next phase. You can fna the mass or cytospin the fluid and slide out the sediment immediately to assess neoplastic cells. Occasionally intestinal necrosis/granulomatous can do this but much more rare.
