The liver presented a 4.0 cm echogenic mass. The mass presented microcystic changes and occupied most of the left liver. The mass impinge upon the gallbladder and envelops the left margin of the gallbladder. However, it does not appear to involve the portal hilus. The common bile duct, portal vein and right liver were unremarkable with no mass impingement noted.
The mass was locally expansive. The mass
impinged upon and enveloped the left margin of the gallbladder. The common bile
duct and the rest of the portal hilus was free of evident pathology as was the right liver.
This appears resectable. These are slowly expansive masses if confirmed to be
cystadenoma. However, transformation into a malignant form is possible. Given the
pedunculated aspect of the mass left lobectomy is recommended. However, the
gallbladder may need to be removed as well.
