This 5 year old M Mastiff has a history of poor appetite, increased urination now with frank blood.

The urinary bladder itself was structurally unremarkable with a minor amount of sand accumulation noted. This measured approximately 1.0 cm. Progressive shadowing was noted. This should resolve with medical therapy and neutering. Ureteral jets were imaged and appeared to be functional. The prostate revealed a large, paraprostatic cyst that was deriving from the right prostatic lobe. Separate cysts were noted in both lobes. There was one in the near field measuring 0.5 cm and one in the far field measuring 2.5 cm. The prostate was severely enlarged at 4.0 cm. Bilateral lobar impingement upon the prostatic urethra was noted. Ultrasound-guided drainage is recommended of the paraprostatic cysts and prostatic cysts with culture and potential ADAIN procedure. There was no evidence of neoplasia noted.
Followup:
Ultrasound guided drainage of the prostatic and paraprostatic cysts was performed 2 weeks later, followed by injection of Enrofloxacin. Recheck scan recommended in 3-5 days assuming that the patient was being castrated at the time of the procedure. Recheck again in 3-5 weeks.
