This 9 year old MN Miniature Poodle dog presented with a 4 month history of a bilateral serosanguinous/mucous discharge with epistaxis. Rhinoscopy shows nasal mass
CT of the head – The computed tomography of the head reveals a soft tissue attenuating & non-uniformly enhancing expansile mass lesion of 3 x 1.5 x 1.5 cm within the mid and rostral thirds of the right nasal cavity. The mass presents infiltrative growth with extensive nasal turbinate destruction as well as multifocal aggressive osteolysis of the nasal, maxillary and vomer bone. There is lysis and deviation of the nasal septum towards the left side with widespread expansion of the soft tissue mass onto the left side.
Caudal to the mass both nasal cavities and the right frontal sinus contain fluid attenuating secretions.There is no intracranial extension. The cribriform plate is intact.
Possible differentials include adenocarcnioma, squamous cell carcinoma, transitional cell carcinoma, lymphpsarcoma, fibrosarcoma and other.
Rhinoscopy and biopsies oft he mass were obtained for further definition.
Complete surgical resection is not an option owing to the extent of the lesion. Consider full tumor staging and radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy with or without cytoreductive surgery depending on the histopathological results as treatment options.
