Case Study

06_00326 Lexie W Mineralizing urethral mass

An 11-year-old SF Bernese Mountain Dog was presented for evaluation of stranguria and hematuria.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

This is strongly consistent with urethral transitional cell carcinoma. The lesion appears to be localized to the urethra. There was no evidence of spread to the bladder.

Image Interpretation

The urinary bladder was unremarkable. However, the pelvic urethra revealed a mineralizing infiltrative pattern that extended approximately 4.0 cm past the cystourethral junction.
