A 10-year-old SF Beagle with a history of prednisone therapy for skin inflammation was presented for evaluation of persistent hematuria and peri-vulvar dermatitis. Previous urinalysis had shown struvite crystaluria and hematuria. Serum biochemistry was normal.
Deep urethral tumor.
Ultrasound-guided laser ablation is strongly recommended. Traumatic catheterization can also be considered to confirm suspected transitional cell carcinoma.
The deep pelvic urethra in this patient presented a 1.5 cm mass. The bladder wall was mildly thickened, yet uniform. The mass initiated primarily approximately 2.0 cm caudal from the cystourethral junction. The remainder of the bladder at moderate repletion was unremarkable.
