Primary Tricuspid Dysplasia, Pulmonary Hypertension, Right CHF in a 10 year old Labrador

A 10-year-old SF Labrador was presented for evaluation of ascites, which was quantified as a modified transudate. Additional history on this dog was that 11 months prior an ovariohysterectomy and resection of mammary gland tumors had been done. The tumors were benign on histopathology. On abdominal ultrasound, the ascites, hepatic congestion, and a dilated CVC were present.

Sonographic Differential Diagnosis

Primary tricuspid dysplasia, pulmonary hypertension and right sided CHF

Image Interpretation

Right atrial and ventricular overload are noted. Pulmonic velocity is normal and no evidence of VSD. the TV leaflets are elongated with sever tricuspid insufficiency,. Right atrial and right ventricular overload are evident with inversion of the RV/LV ratio.
