5 year old female spayed DSH with pollakiuria and occasional vomiting
right kidney no mineralization
left kidney has stones; urinary blader stone too.
bloodwork normal; U/A USG 1.044 struvite crystals and pH=8 but culture negative so far (24 hours)
What would you tell owner about kidneys?
cystotomy and stone analysis scheduled for tomorrow

Not seeing a dilated pelvis,
Not seeing a dilated pelvis, struvites in cats can be sterile different from dog. Pending stone analysis if struvite then S/D will work

Renal function in this cat
Renal function in this cat appears adequate as there is no azotemia and the SG is well concentrated. Although the struvite crystals may indicate the make-up of the uroliths, the stones still need to analyzed to ensure that long-term management can be done.
Keep in mind that the intermittent vomiting may be unrelated to the uroliths and should be followed up if problematic.
Renal function in this cat

Kidneys in these stone movers will hydonephrose and recoil recoil and infarct especially with that 1/2 cm rock in the kidney never know when they will move or if they will move. Cats usually go anorexic for a day or 2 or less when moving stones unless they block then they get clinical. They act like they have pancreatitis…. anorexia lethargy… +/- vomiting. Renal function is an issue when 60-70% of the renal function is compromised and that’s not the case here. Subjectively this kidney looks +/-30% compromised on this view with cortical remodeling but thats purely opinion. Stone movers are like panc cats … once a stone mover always a stone mover.
I see very very trace pyelectasia but if on fluids=normal, scarring from stone passage, uti??. extremely trace though.
