Lhasa Apso with lower urinary tract signs and atypical renal cortices

Lhasa Apso with lower urinary tract signs and atypical renal cortices

These images are from a colleague of mine.

  • 2 yr old fs Lhasa Apso with hx of positive urine cultures and urinary incontinence
  • Normal bloodwork and U/A  (no evidence of renal failure)
  • Colleague reports bladder ultrasound is normal

What is going on in the renal cortices?  Are those nodules or cysts?  Can early or minor renal dysplasia look like this?  Can this be related to the lower urinary tract signs or is this just an incidental finding? I have requested video clips.

Sorry Melissa I am not seeing
Sorry Melissa I am not seeing what you are describing. The images are dark and lack detail. The size and cortex/medulla ratio seem fine. Renal dysplasia can look like anything but not obvious here and would not be typical for dysplasia.
