2 yo Great Pyrenees, ptyalism, thickened pylorus?

– 2 yo F/S Great Pyrenees, non stop ptyalism for 3 weeks.

– Lethargy, decreased appetite, ptyalism. Appetite and lethargy resolved with Cerenia/Gabapentin last week. No vomiting.

– Mild dental tartar, no FB seen in mouth, no swollen LN/salivary glands.

– Normal bloodwork.

– U/S: nothing really exciting, except for the region of the pylorus/cranial duodenum with thickened hyperechoic folds. Is that an artifact or due to gastritis, or do we have mucosal hypertrophy? The stomach was not distended, just some gas, no sign of delayed gastric emptying.

– Recommended omeprazole/reglan, resting cortisol to r/o atypical Addison (even if the adrenals were ok 4-5mm).

Thank you!

Julie

The pylorus looks pretty

The pylorus looks pretty normal to me… scope the esophagus and stomach for mucosal changes and for kicks screen for addisons given the age and breed as addisonians get gastritis and not all gastritis shows on ultrasound.
