11 yr FS Papillon. Hx hypothyroidism and intermittent GI symptoms. Rest of ultrasound unremarkable. Is it reasonable to try ursodiol and amoxicillin and recheck an ultrasound in 2-3 months as long as asymptomatic? Or should we be recommending surgery? Any special diet recommendations?

I would call this an emerging
I would call this an emerging cholelith. I think it would be reasonable to try Ursodiol, as its a poor choleretic, and appropriate antibitics for cholhep if concurrent liver enzyme elevations. A low fat diet may be beneficial. I think its a monitor at this point without evidence of inflammation. A lot of times, these may not cause any clinical signs. Check T4 levels if not recently done as hypothyroidism has been associated with GB sludge and mucocele formation.
Thank you! The dog is on
Thank you! The dog is on thyroid supplements, so I will recommend they make sure she is well regulated.
