urinary bladder pathology -cat with inappropriate urination

Snuggles is a female – presumably but not definitively spayed adult indoor/outdoor DLH. She showed up at outside her owners home in 2013.  She has not had any litters or observed estrus cycles. She has been urinating on the owners bed “all the time” for several months. She is also in and out of the litter box and drinks water all night. She is a picky eater.

PE -EENT – heavy calculus, mod gingivitis, ears and eyes ok

CV/resp – no murmur, normal rhythm, lungs clearn, tachypneic – very stressed – wouldn’t take gabapentin before the visit

GI/GU – firm caudal small abdominal mass

MS – ambulatory x 4, mild muscle wasting, weight loss of about 1 lb since last visit 1.5 years ago

Integ – matted fur

LN – NAF

Superchem/cbc/t4 – BUN 45 (14-36), Creatinine 2.5 (0.6-2.4), CBC wnl, T4 – 2.0

What do you make of this urinary bladder?

Thank you,

It’s kind of hard to tell

It’s kind of hard to tell what is going on with the bladder as the image is showing fairly dark on this end, one of our veterinary specialists will comment soon. Here is a lighter version screen shot of your last video. Any chance you put power Doppler on any of those irregular looking areas? Also, do you have a linear probe? A linear probe would really define the structures in this bladder.

Thanks for getting back to me

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Sorry I cannot send still images. They are saved as bitmap images. I just tried to upload 2 more clips (one with color flow) via the file attachment link, but they were not accepted.

You can put this case on hold. I will post images using a linear probe when I see Snuggles again.

Sorry for the delay been

Sorry for the delay been under the gun here at ACVIM. Images are a bot dark but I see uniformly thickened bladder and I think I see a thick uterus too. Bad chronic cystitis with that history but bladder lsa can do this as well on rare occasion. Since needing to spay I would push IV fluids, spay and get ub wall bx and culture.

Hello,
I have more

Hello,

I have more images/clips of Snuggles bladder/kidneys.  I can only save them as bitmap images or clips. I am working to figure out how to save the images in a compatable format. Until that time is it possible to upload more clips?  I tried to upload a clip using the file attachment link below but it was not allowed.

Thank you,

Jennifer
