– 8 yr old MN Minature Schnauzer with diabetes in for an ultrasound recheck to monitor the GB; clinically doing well
– liver is hyperechoic (isoechoic to the spleen with decreased portal markings)
– there is a trace abdominal effusion present
– there is no pain when scanning over the gall bladder
Thoughts on GB appearance?

I dont see an inflammatory
I dont see an inflammatory pattern and this is not a mucocele but just a passively sludgy gb… but I walways live by the adage that local free fluid belongs to what is next to it so I would tap the fluid and fna the liver…. asuming there isnt a low albumin (< 1.5) and i doubt that liver is causing portal hypertension even though not normal and Im assuming no passive congestion of the cvc and hv…all of which will cause third spacing of fluid..
