- Just wondering if this echogenic tissue is truly reactive fat or perhaps distal limb of the pancreas? I frequently see reactive, echogenic fat at the ICC in LSA and IBD cats, but in this patient, it seem more encapsulated. I suspect that the hypoechoic nodule within the echogenic fat is a blood vessel, but could not get good CF Doppler due to patient movement.

The mes rt is a frequently hot place for cats .. peyers patches and all and when lymphadenitis happens here, or hot lsa, mct, fip and so forth.. what happens is the regional fat gets inflamed and ill defined just like what happens in panreatitis only in that case its associated wiht th epancreas… then once resolved it sort of remodels like you have here in your patient. This fat is not ill defined but likely had an episode of lymphadenitis in the past and this is what he/she carries forward in the region. You will see this often in ibd cats… sometimes panc gets involved too but too far caudal and mid line for panc in these views.
