VSD in a cat

Sonopath Forum

  • 6 month old male entire British Blue that was quite wriggly for the exam
  • I see a VSD with high velocity (restrictive?) and mitral regurgitation
  • How would you describe this VSD?
  • What is causing the mitral regurgitation, I do not see SAM, could there be mitral dysplasia?
  • And will the mitral regurgitation worsen his prognosis with volume overload from the VSD?

Nice image set. I believe

Nice image set. I believe this to be a membranous VSD left to right shunt and concurrent MR likely a form of minor mv dysplasia. I dont think the MR will be a big player here as it looks mild and all is currently compensated. I would neuter him now while all is compensated and so he doesnt pass on his genes and recheck the echo at a full year of age.

I completeley agree with Eric

I completeley agree with Eric – there’s nothing to add. Likely a sub-cristal form of VSD.
