Reactive lymph node?

Sonopath Forum

Reactive lymph node?

– 11 yo F/S Lab, asymptomatic, mild elevation liver enzymes (ALT 220>121, ALP 213>160).

– 1cm hyperechoic nodule in the liver near diaphragm: benign hyperplasia vs granuloma vs abscess vs neoplasia. Liver has normal size/echogenicity.

– hypoechoic rounded structure (9mm wide, 1.7cm long) in mid abdomen, in the region of the jejunal LN. Reactive LN vs mass vs it almost looks like a nodule in the pancreas on some views, but I was too caudal and central for the pancreas.

– Normal intestines, normal spleen/stomach (lots of gas)/kidneys/adrenals/bladder/pancreas.

What do you think of this hypoechoic structure? Can we have a reactive LN without any GI signs?

She had just finished a week of Clavamox for a UTI. Fecal negative a few months ago.

Thank you!

Julie

These are LNs and likely

These are LNs and likely reactive given the length to width ratio is normal but looks a little ill defined around the node which may just be your machine/presets or inflammation. I think worth a needle cyto and culture. You will see LNs like this a lot without clinical signs. I would fna the liver too and assess inflammatory cell type. May just be a reactive LN and reactive hepatopathy state that is subclinical which is very easy in a Lab they dont get clinical til their world is seriously rocked:)

And thank you for working on my echo on the Bulldog with the heart base mass yesterday. The owner elected euthanasia. Sweetest dog, of course…
