Prostatic neoplasia vs abcess

Prostatic neoplasia vs abcess

Hi there,

Hi there,

Kilo is a 10 years old collie X intact that had an enlarged prostate with on and off urination issues for 12 months. I know the next step would be an chest x-ray and an FNA for cytology. When I do this do I also try to drain and inject enrofloxacin? Or this doesn’t look like an abcess, benign cyst?

From the history, age, US

From the history, age, US appearance, and chronicity looks more like a cystic structure than an abscess. If there is pyrexia and/or white cell response then more likley secondary abscess. Drain  it and see what the fluid is – cytology and culture.

Drain first then fna the wall

Drain first then fna the wall then inject baytil into the cavity but leave just enough cavity to have a target after draining
