Hello
Was hoping for some opinons on how to interpret a slightly abnormal CW reading on a mitral valve in a 7 year old Keeshound.
Is this what it looks like when doppler catches the valve? Is this valve motion?
Thanks. Brent

That thin “jet” is valve
That thin “jet” is valve noise. The only real MR jet is goign to be > 5 m/sec in a dog as defined physiologically by bernouli’s equation. the Left sided pressures ensure that a live dog has an MR jet > 5 and usually 5.5 or higher. Anything else is valve noise or artifact. Cats dont really live my this rule as consistently wel… because they are cats :)… but dogs you can go by this rule.
Great. Thanks. Have a great
