I was curious about this gall bladder. Is this just sludge? Patient is very icteric and has extremely elevated liver enzymes. Not sure what to make of the stringy material I am seeing. Thanks, jas

Sludgy Gb no overt mucocele
Sludgy Gb no overt mucocele formation likely secondary to systemic disease or anorexia. Fna the liver and consider lepto or similar insult assuming no anemia/hemolytic disease.
Thanks, is there always edema
Thanks, is there always edema of the gall bladder wall if there is a true mucocele?
No not necessarily the GB
No not necessarily the GB wall varied and can be normal, fibrosed, inflamed, edematous… the “mucocele” is based mainly on overdistention with striating immobile bile….then add any of the wall changes mentioned and that complicates the scenario and adds to the immediate clinical concern especially if th egB motility study is not showing movement if you perform this as well.
Gb motility study is here in interventional procedures:

just put “mucocele” in the basic search engine for sonopath and you will see every type you can imagine in our archive:)

Thanks EL! I realize I have not been imaging the biliary system thoroughly and so will have to work on getting better gang sign images. jas
