HBC swollen/edematous hind legs?

HBC swollen/edematous hind legs?

I performed an Echo on this patient today, a fellow technician’s cat was HBC approx 6 days ago and started to develop labored breathing. I am waiting for the U/S report but in the interim I was wondering what might be causing the hind leg swelling? They u-cathed him to ensure the bladder was emptying and he can actually walk a few steps despite the swelling in his legs. He had a fractured pelvis of which they repaired with an internal fixator as well; suture line in pic.
