This accident happened several weeks ago and the dog is doing well but I promised I would post the image to see if anyone thought this was a fracture. It sure looks like it but from a physics point of view I was always taught that the pelvis is like a pretzel and will need to break in at least 3 places. This does not seem to fit the physics of a pelvic fracture that we have been taught but radiographically it sure looks like one. Is it possible to break this point of the pelvis with the unfortunate precise injury? We realize it is irrelevant clinically but going forward it would be nice to straighten this out.
Thanks. Brent.

No doubt this is a traumatic
No doubt this is a traumatic fracture with significant displacement. This is not only indicated by the position of the fragment but also by the fact that there is no marked bridging callus which means the fracture gap is too wide to be closed.
Isolated fractures of the plevic floor do happen to occur even if not particularly common. But actually with the superimposition in that specific area and withput an orthogonal view farctures in the ipsilateral caudal pubic ramus and the contralateral pubic rami as well as smphysiolysis cannot be ruled out entirely which would conform the pelvic ring theory you mentioned.
hope this helps
Thanks for the quick reply.
Thanks for the quick reply. VERY good to know for the future. Thanks. Brent
