Echogenic fat at the ileocolic junction

  • This is a 12-year-old FS, DSH, torti with a history of chronic intermittent vomiting.  CBC and chem prof are wnl.
  • Abdominal US shows a well defined echogenic fat like tissue at the ileocolic junction.

    • Just wondering if this echogenic tissue is truly reactive fat or perhaps distal limb of the pancreas?  I frequently see reactive, echogenic fat at the ICC in LSA and IBD cats, but in this patient, it seem more encapsulated.  I suspect that the hypoechoic nodule within the echogenic fat is a blood vessel, but could not get good CF Doppler due to patient movement.
